Job Description
Some Data Scientists write models.
Others shape the future of enterprise AI.
We're hiring a Lead Data Scientist / AI Architect for a high-calibre team solving real-world AI challenges - from agentic systems to GenAI tooling and enterprise-scale AI platforms.
This is not a research-only role, or one where you'll just hand over notebooks. You'll sit at the centre of solution design, technical architecture, and delivery leadership, helping organisations build out secure, scalable, AI-native platforms - and shaping the way they think about intelligent systems.
You'll bridge technical disciplines - from data science and AI engineering to infrastructure and cloud - and help turn big ideas into pragmatic, production-ready solutions.
The opportunity:
Shape and deliver end-to-end AI solutions across UI, agents, ML pipelines, and data infrastructure
Own technical decision-making on architecture, devops, observability, and deployment approaches
Work with multi-cloud environments and define AI platform capabilities (e.g. LLM gateways, orchestration layers, tooling)
Jump onto the tools when needed — from hands-on DS work to AI engineering support
Help shape our internal AI capabilities as we build toward a truly AI-native organisation
Collaborate directly with clients, execs, and delivery teams to translate business goals into scalable technical strategy
You'll bring:
Strong background in data science, software engineering, and cloud-native AI solutions
Experience defining AI solution architectures and reference patterns
Hands-on work with AI agents, LLM platforms, orchestration, and MLOps
Understanding of enterprise IT environments — ideally including Australian government or regulated sectors
Broad cloud experience, Azure a strong plus
5+ years commercial experience, ideally with platform-level ownership
Australian Citizenship (required due to project security needs)
Location:
Melbourne preferred
Sydney possible for the right person
