THE PROJECT
UGL are recruiting for a Quality Inspector for our Welding team this position is for the Hunter Power Project is the construction of a 660MW Power Station comprising of two heavy-duty open cycle gas turbines. Located in the in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, 35 km west of Newcastle.
The Utilities business are the preferred contractor on two of the largest energy infrastructure projects within the Australian energy sector, one of these projects is located in Queensland and the other in New South Wales. These two exciting opportunities secure a pipeline of work until 2027 and include the design & construction of new transmission lines and substations.
UGL's utilities business undertakes essential design & construction services for critical infrastructure in the power and water sectors. Our end-to-end delivery ranges from transmission lines, switchyards, substations, electrical distribution through to water and wastewater treatment plants and water pipelines.
What will a day in this role look like:
1. Review assigned technical documentation and ensure correct specifications and drawings etc are included/ referred to in Work Packs and Requisitions
2. Develop and/or facilitate the development of inspection and associated check/inspection records
3. Determine measurement capability appropriate to the activities and ensure that calibrated measuring devices are available
4. Verify suitability of qualifications/experience of personnel assigned (including subcontractors) to undertake inspection activities
5. Coordinate and/or undertake inspection activities and prepare inspection records as required by the ITPs
6. Monitor the completion of Quality Records associated with assigned Work Packs
7. Initiate and verify suitability of corrective or preventive action where required to eliminate existing or potential causes of non-conformance
8. Assist with the resolution and close out of technical non conformances
9. Review and compile inspection records for compliance with agreed requirements and for inclusion with the MDR
10. Prepare status reports covering assigned work areas in accordance with Project requirements
11. Assembles cost control and statistical data, as needed, in support of quality objectives

12. Experience within the heavy industry / construction environment
13. Previous experience in a Welder Quality Control role
14. Appropriate trade and technical qualifications
15. Minimum basic skills – Microsoft Office suite and QC database
16. AS9001 Knowledge
17. Site experience (operations, construction and commissioning in mineral processing, oil and gas/ petrochemical or mining industry)
