The Role
We are seeking multiple experienced Senior Project Managers to join our Asset Delivery and Care Business Unit. These pivotal roles strengthen project leadership capability and ensure the successful delivery of complex infrastructure and asset programs that make a real impact.
Senior Project Managers are responsible for providing leadership, mentoring and technical support to their team's project managers.
Opportunities are across teams delivering a diverse portfolio of water infrastructure projects, including upgrades at sewage and recycled water treatment plants, expansion of weir and sewer networks, and supporting Victoria's Big Build.
Senior Project Manager (Treatment Plant Programs) works collaboratively to support multi‐disciplinary projects across YVW's 9 sewage treatment and 3 recycled water treatment plants. Projects include process unit upgrades, refurbishment and expansion works, contributing to the successful delivery of the Treatment Plant Improvement Program by maintaining relationships and robust processes with delivery partners, internal teams and external stakeholders.
Senior Project Manager (Authority Works) works collaboratively to support delivery of water and sewer asset upgrades and relocations required to support other authorities. The team interfaces with Melbourne's big build projects and councils, working across several work packages with NELP and VIDA, maintaining firm relationships with key stakeholders to protect YVW's operational and commercial interests.
Senior Project Manager (Major Projects) works collaboratively to support delivery of large‐diameter tunnelled pipelines, large tank structures and associated assets. The role provides specialist strategic, technical, and practice leadership to Project Managers and drives best‐practice project management across the broader Major Projects Division.
This is an opportunity to lead, influence, and shape project delivery outcomes while contributing to a high‐performing, collaborative leadership environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist guidance to Project Managers on planning, design, construction, commissioning, and handover aspects to ensure successful integration and interface outcomes.
* Provide technical support to the team, including review of key documents such as drawings, specifications, tender packages, tender evaluation, and contract documentation.
* Apply technical and commercial expertise to identify risks, opportunities, and improvement areas across projects.
* Develop project delivery strategies in conjunction with Project Managers and various teams within Yarra Valley Water to ensure best outcomes for the community.
* Champion good project governance in accordance with Yarra Valley Water's Enterprise Delivery Framework, including preparation of high‐quality Business Cases, Project Management Plans, RAID registers and other key documents.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and delivery partners, promoting best‐practice stakeholder and community engagement.
What we're Looking for
* Advanced expertise in project management practices, including cost, risk and schedule management.
* Expertise in contract management, commercial acumen, contract superintendency and CDCC delivery.
* Proven ability to coach, develop, and lead professionals.
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, engaging effectively with senior management, customers, consultants, contractors, regulators, and committees.
* Solid knowledge of Quality Assurance, OH&S and Environmental principles, with proven experience applying these within contract and project management.
* Demonstrated experience in delivery of water and sewerage networks and/or sewage and recycled water treatment plants across design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases.
* Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, providing clear guidance to support sound decision‐making and equitable outcomes.
* Resilience and adaptability in complex environments, focused on improved customer experiences, high‐quality assets, and value for money.
* Valid Victorian Driver's License.
* A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Process).
