**We have an exciting permanent full-time opportunity for you to join our NATA accredited laboratory. You will work in a specialist team of technical professionals in the delivery of testing and calibration services, maintenance and related support for all QPS breath-alcohol analysing instruments and speed detection devices and systems.
Your Key Accountabilities:
The core capability requirements for this role are:
Service and maintain, calibrate and repair and install electronic devices and systems, specialising in QPS breath-alcohol analysing instruments and speed detection devices and systems.
Assist in the design, development and implementation of significant technical projects and assist in replacement programs and equipment tenders.
Provide technical evidence on related equipment on behalf of the QPS in Courts of law.
Provide technical and specialist information and liaise with Road Policing and Regional Support Command as required.
Comply with all relevant legislation, policy, procedures, Standards, quality management and Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
Liaise with contractors and external providers to effectively meet business needs.
Provide instruction / training to technical and non-technical personnel in the operation and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems.
Maintain databases and accurate records to assist in the management of assets and associated spare parts and supplies.
Participate in and perform internal audits of laboratory documentation and procedures, identify any non-compliance and propose corrective action.
Role Requirements:
Mandatory
Possession of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electronic Engineering, Radio Communications or similar field as deemed equivalent.
Possession of Open 'C' Class Queensland Driver's Licence.
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience:
Highly Desirable
Skills, knowledge and experience of contemporary electronic principles and practices.
Knowledge of and ability in the use of Information and Communications Technology Systems (i.e., software / firmware).
Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance practice and experience in working within a quality assured environment.
Understanding of Australian Standard 17025 - General Requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
Desirable
Possess a trade or engineering certificate in electronics / electronic systems.
Understanding of the principals of infra-red energy absorption and electrochemical reactions (Breath Analysis Unit).
Understanding of the Doppler Principle (Speed Detection Unit)
