The University of New England (UNE) is seeking an outstanding leader to join their Estate and Built Environment Directorate in the newly created role of Director, Infrastructure Services. This key senior role will play a vital role in shaping the UNE's campuses, creating safe, sustainable, and inspiring spaces for learning, research, and engagement.
Based in Armidale and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director, Infrastructure Services will provide strategic leadership across UNE's operational and infrastructure services, ensuring the University's facilities and systems support its long-term vision and academic mission. This pivotal role oversees campus and trades services, environmental sustainability programs, emergency management, and technical operations, while fostering a culture of service excellence, innovation, and safety.
About the role
* Lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of operational infrastructure services.
* Oversee major service contracts and ensure best-practice governance, compliance, and performance.
* Drive environmental sustainability initiatives and robust emergency management frameworks.
* Provide high-level strategic advice to the Chief Operating Officer and University Executive.
* Lead a skilled team of managers and specialists, fostering collaboration, capability, and accountability.
* Work in close partnership with the Director, Capital Development to ensure an integrated, future-focused approach to UNE's built environment.
About You
You are a proven leader in infrastructure or facilities management, with extensive experience in complex, multi-site organisations. You bring expertise in strategic planning, predictive maintenance, service delivery, and large-scale contract management. Skilled in stakeholder engagement and operational excellence, you combine commercial acumen with a deep commitment to safety, sustainability, and innovation.
Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering, construction, project management, or a related field are essential, along with a strong track record of leading diverse teams and delivering measurable outcomes. Experience in the higher education or broader public sector will be highly regarded.
