Our client is an extremely busy Public Sector department that is experiencing unprecedented demand for their services. They are providing an opportunity for a Student Engineer in a part‐time, 2–3 days per week role during university semesters with full‐time work during holiday periods. The initial contract is 6 months with provisions for three 12‐month extensions.
Responsibilities
* Investigate and review road asset conditions and utilise big data analytics to identify issues and solutions on the state‐controlled network.
* Contribute to the development of asset maintenance programmes to ensure best value for money with road asset maintenance treatments within the region.
* Contribute to management plans for road asset maintenance for various elements including pavement rehabilitation and resurfacing, structures and other drainage components, batter slope, heavy vehicle permits, traffic signage and delineation.
* Provide technical advice and assistance in asset management to other officers, including asset condition investigation and analysis and assistance in preparation of forward programmes for various elements.
* Communicate, verbally and in writing to stakeholders, information or advice on asset management, including assisting with the preparation of technical reports and replies to the public or to ministerial correspondence.
* Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support the design and construction of road infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a second or third year of a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil preferred) degree, accredited under the Washington Accord or a double degree including Civil Engineering.
