About the Role
This position works in a multidisciplinary team to provide care and facilitate recovery through the
use of evidence-based treatment approaches to consumers housed at Ravenhall Correctional Centre.
The Mental Health Nurse delivers care within a custodial setting, practicing within a recovery
framework and using sound judgement to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and maintain a high
standard of patient care.
Nursing at Forensicare has a strong focus on recovery-oriented health care that meets the needs of
individuals with a mental health diagnosis who have a history of criminal offending or who may be at
risk of offending behaviours.
As an RPN 3, you will:
* Provide comprehensive recovery-orientated assessment and treatment of patients in a custodial setting.
* Formulation and documentation of patient centred Mental Health Recovery Plans.
* Administer and monitor the effects of medication interventions.
* Participate in the provision of programs to patients/prisoners.
* Develop and maintain a portfolio assisting in the ongoing development of staff and the Unit/Team.
* Delivery of localised tasks specific to the Unit/Team they are working within such as:
- Key nursing care coordination;
- At Risk Assessments;
- Initial Reception Mental Health Screening;
- Provision of individualised and group therapeutic programs.
About You:
Holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent and possess current registration with AHPRA.
* Thorough understanding and demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery.
* Well developed individual leadership skills that incorporate shared values into timely actions.
* Proven ability to pomote safe and effective evidence-based nursing care for mentally ill patients to achieve identified individual/group outcomes.
* Proven knowledge, skills and commitment to the use of reflective techniques in the delivery of quality, recovery-focused mental health care.
