Overview
This role sits at the intersection of analytics, strategy and electricity markets. As part of a specialist modelling function, you will be responsible for translating complex market dynamics into actionable insights that support renewable energy investment, portfolio optimisation and risk management.
Your work will focus on building and running wholesale electricity price simulations that reflect real world participant behaviour and evolving system conditions. Using industry standard market modelling tools alongside custom Python based analysis, you will create forward looking views of market outcomes under a range of credible future scenarios.
Beyond modelling, the role has a strong commercial application. You will support the structuring and assessment of renewable energy contracts, storage investments and hedging solutions. This includes helping developers and asset owners understand downside risk, revenue volatility and the value of different contracting approaches.
You will also contribute to long-term energy procurement and risk strategies for large commercial and industrial energy users. This involves analysing contract structures, testing hedging effectiveness and working directly with stakeholders to implement solutions that align with their financial objectives and operational realities.
Requirements
* 2+ years' experience analysing or forecasting electricity market outcomes.
* A strong quantitative background with demonstrated experience applying risk analysis in a commercial or investment context.
* Proven Plexos experience - ability to identify and improve simulation performance.
* Ability to commmunicate effectively and translate complex jargon to less technical clients.
* Degree in finance, engineering, actuarial, economics etc

Salary$100,000 -$130,000 + Super (depending on experience)
