Overview
The Safewayz Coordinator will be a valued member of the Violene Abuse and Neglect team at Albury Community Health. The SafeWayz program has been specifically designed to support children under the age of 10 years who have displayed problematic or harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB. The role aims provide advice, education and support to children under the age of 10, their families and support systems, as well as promoting safe, nurturing, and respectful relationships, and appropriate and healthy sexual development. This role will lead and participate in prevention work to educate children, family, schools, carers, community, and professionals about PHSBs, including clear guidance on what sexual behaviours are developmentally appropriate, problematic and harmful.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice, education and support to children under the age of 10 with PHSB, and to their families and support systems.
- Promote safe, nurturing, and respectful relationships and appropriate, healthy sexual development.
- Lead and participate in prevention work to educate children, families, schools, carers, communities, and professionals about PHSBs, including guidance on developmentally appropriate behaviours.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Social Work, Degree in Psychology (with full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia), or Bachelor degree in other relevant Allied Health disciplines with additional experience and expertise in counselling and therapeutic skills.
- Advanced skills and postgraduate experience in a relevant field.
- Experience in working with behaviour modification models of practice from a systems perspective.
- Advanced skills in building and sustaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external partners. Experience in connecting and collaborating with Aboriginal communities is highly regarded.
