Lead project capability and governance across a national food manufacturing business.
Sugar Australia has an opportunity for an experienced PMO Lead to join our team at our Yarraville VIC site on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping how we plan, govern, and deliver key business and capital projects across Sugar Australia.
This role is critical in building project management capability, embedding frameworks, and ensuring projects aligned to our business plan are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and within governance.
The sweet things you'll be involved in:
As the PMO Lead, you will oversee the organisation-wide project portfolio and uplift project management maturity across the business. You'll work closely with senior leaders, project managers, and functional teams to establish consistent governance, reporting, tools, and ways of working that enable successful project delivery.
In addition, you will provide oversight across capital and non-capital projects, support effective prioritisation and resourcing, and partner with Finance and Engineering to ensure strong financial control, benefit realisation, and delivery discipline.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Developing and maintaining the project portfolio, ensuring alignment to our balanced business plan and strategic priorities
* Partnering with senior leaders and functional teams to define, prioritise and align projects to our business plan
* Embedding and governing Stage-Gate and Front-End Loading processes, ensuring high-quality project documentation and controls
* Establishing and improving project management frameworks, methodologies, templates and reporting standards
* Uplifting project management capability across the business through coaching, training and best practice guidance
* Coordinating and facilitating governance meetings including Steering Committees, Gate Reviews and Control Groups
* Monitoring project performance to ensure timelines, budgets, risks and benefits are effectively managed
* Partnering with Finance to track project budgets, forecasts, risks, opportunities and benefits realisation
* Supporting post-project reviews and continuous improvement of project delivery practices
* Identifying and addressing project delivery risks, helping to get projects back on track when needed
* Supporting contractor administration related to engineering and project delivery
What we're wanting you to bring to the table:
This role is ideally suited to someone with strong stakeholder engagement skills, great attention to detail, and a proactive mindset. You enjoy building structure, influencing outcomes, and coaching and supporting teams to build project capability, helping deliver projects smoothly from idea to implementation.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in project coordination or PMO related roles, ideally within manufacturing, engineering or industrial environments
* Tertiary qualification in Business, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline (preferred)
* PMP or similar project management certification (desirable)
* Demonstrated experience working within structured project management frameworks (e.g. Stage-Gate, FEL)
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior leadership level
* Financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting and benefits tracking
* Experience supporting change management and project communications
* Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Excel or similar
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across a diverse project portfolio
* A collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused working style
