About the schoolThe School of Education sits within the Faculty of Education, Philosophy and Theology. Our initial teacher education programs include Early Childhood, Primary Education, Secondary Education and Master of Teaching. We also offer a diverse range of Post Graduate coursework and research programs. About the roleThe purpose of this role is to make contributions to the scholarly teaching, research and leadership efforts of the University of Notre Dame Australia. The successful candidate will teach, coordinate and lead courses and programs in Digital Technologies and Digital Literacy in National Early Childhood and Initial Teacher Education and post graduate degrees.The successful candidate will also carry out scholarly research, supervise HDR students, and take up professional activities relevant to promoting the development of Digital Technologies and Digital Literacy of all individuals. This role reports to the National Head of School, Education. Level B (Lecturer)A level B Academic Staff Member is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional and governance activities relevant to the profession or discipline. Level C (Senior Lecturer)A level C Academic Staff Member is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching and governance effort of a department, school, faculty or other organisational unit or an interdisciplinary area. An academic at this level is also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities. Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate, design and teach courses in Digital Technologies and Digital Literacy in undergraduate and postgraduate programs.Develop, lead, and maintain a research agenda relevant to the role that builds collaborations within and beyond the University.Demonstrate active and constructive participation in Governance and Service activities that support the smooth running of the School, Faculty and University.Ensure courses and programs are aligned with the external Accreditation Standards and Procedures.Lead in the Literacy and Digital Literacies field through collaborations with schools, school systems, and community groups.Supervise Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students.Comply with and promote safe working practices as set out in University policy. Qualifications, skills & experienceEssentialA Doctoral qualification relevant to the field of Digital Technologies and Digital Literacy in education.Demonstrated skills/knowledge/experience relevant to Digital Technologies and Digital Literacy in education.Demonstrated ability to design and facilitate quality teaching in teacher education programs at the university level.Knowledge of current trends and key issues relevant to research and practice in Digital Technologies and Digital Literacy in education including artificial intelligence.A record of research activity, collaborations and outputs relative to opportunity related to Digital Technologies and Digital Literacy in education.Experience teaching in the primary and/or secondary school sector.Demonstrated support of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.Demonstrated understanding of and support for implementing the AITSL Standards and Procedures for the accreditation of initial teacher education programs.Strong interpersonal skills and capacity for teamwork and collaboration with colleagues, students, teacher, and practitioners in the field. DesirableKnowledge, expertise and experience in research, practice and ethical issues related to Artificial Intelligence and its use in education.Knowledge and experience working across multisite locations.Experience working in multidisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary education teams.
