Role Description
Working within a commercial kitchen facility, Community Team Members play a key role in supporting community members as they take part in meal preparation within a safe, hygienic and healthy environment. The role assists with preparing and serving food under the guidance and support of the Catering Team Leader. An ideal role for those who enjoy preparing meals, coaching others and working as a team alongside community members.
Key Responsibilities
* Meal preparation and service: With guidance and instruction from the Community Meals Team Leader, coordinate community members ensuring they have all the ingredients and utensils needed for the meal preparation activity.
* Set up and clean up: With a keen eye for neatness and hygiene, Team Members oversee and assist community members with initial set up, clearing of tables, pack up, wash up and waste disposal.
* Manage stocks and storage: Applying high regard for food safety standards, Team Members assist with ensuring food stocks are replenished and within use by dates, and all food items are stored and labelled correctly.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience in food preparation, handling and service
* Relevant food handling qualifications as required by local council authorities
* Interest in working with community members who are seeking connection and social support
Background Check Requirements
* As this role isn't child-related or have significant risk considerations, it does not require background checks
Time Required & Commitment
Fixed roster/versatile times as agreed
Development Opportunities with this Role
This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and build experience in food handling, preparation and service, as well working alongside community members who may be experiencing social or economic vulnerabilities. Additionally, there will be access to a range of training opportunities and insight to the work of a large not-for-profit religious organisation with expressions in many different areas of society.
