Are you looking for a challenging role in nuclear medicine? We have an exciting opportunity for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical outcomes for patients while extending genuine compassion and care.
About the Role
This is an ideal opportunity for a graduate or early career Nuclear Medicine Technologist who wants to take control of their career by aligning with a market-leading diagnostic radiography practice. You will work across at least 2 sites, on a standard Monday – Friday roster with no on-call work and no after-hours work. Shifts will start between 7am and 9am daily and you'll receive your roster fortnightly in advance.
You will be reporting to the NM/PET Coordinator and be responsible for:
* Completing efficient, effective and safe Nuc Med and PET imaging
* Delivering high-quality clinical outcomes for your patients whilst extending them genuine compassion and care
* Preparing and administering (via confident cannulation) radiopharmaceuticals (Nuc Med / PET Med tracers) to patients
* Operating nuclear medicine equipment, including SPECT/CT and PET/CT cameras to obtain high-quality diagnostic images
* Interpreting PET and Nuc Med images to independently assess the need to consult with radiologists and / or referring doctors
* Collaborating with radiologists and referring doctors to review imaging results and ensure diagnostic goals are met
* Administering lymphatic injections for breast and melanoma patients
* Adhering to all Nuc Med and PET safety protocols including safely handling radioactive tracers, maintaining appropriate shielding and following contamination control procedures
* Verifying patient information to correctly identify patients, prior to scanning
* Confirming the patient has adhered to preparation instructions before proceeding with their scan
* Reviewing patient medical histories to cross-check information and notes and ensure patient safety
* Monitoring patients during procedures for adverse reactions or complications and providing appropriate medical support as needed
* Maintaining detailed records of procedures, radiopharmaceutical use, and patient information in compliance with regulatory standards and PRC protocols
* Performing quality control procedures on imaging equipment and radiopharmaceutical doses to ensure safety and accuracy
What We're Looking For
We'd love to bring you into our team if you're:
* A professional with technical expertise, high EQ and well-developed interpersonal skills
* Interested in developing multi-modality skills (CT) and applying that to imaging work
* Keen to work across both PET and Nuc Med sites
* Ideally seeking extension to your core role, for example in cardiac stress testing or towards a coordinator position
* Comfortable working in small, high-functioning teams to deliver patient outcomes
* Committed to participating in continuing education and training to stay current with technological advancements and best practices in nuclear medicine
* Interested in PET and Nuc Med research projects
* Able to handle radioactive tracers in a safe way following legislation and protocols
