The role involves delivering senior-level testing and quality assurance services within a complex government technology environment, working closely with project teams, developers, business stakeholders, and delivery managers. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing testing activities across multiple ICT programs to ensure applications, services, and infrastructure meet quality standards and business requirements.The roles sit within established quality assurance teams supporting enterprise platforms, cloud applications, bespoke systems, and SaaS environments. The position places strong emphasis on test planning, automation, defect management, and ensuring reliable and secure delivery of ICT services across multiple programs.

Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, coordinate, and drive testing activities across all stages of the software development lifecycle.Prepare and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate system functionality and performance.Provide expert guidance on testing methodologies, tools, and quality assurance practices.Manage and track defects, ensuring issues are properly documented, prioritised, and resolved.Use testing tools such as Azure DevOps to support test planning, execution, and defect management.Support testing of web applications, APIs, and enterprise platforms, including REST and SOAP services.Work closely with project teams, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure testing aligns with project requirements.Assess testing risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure quality outcomes.Contribute to the development and improvement of organisational testing standards, policies, and processes.Support both manual and automated testing approaches across cloud and on-premise applications.
Essential CriteriaISTQB Foundation certification or higher.Minimum 8+ years’ experience working in software testing or quality assurance roles.Strong experience testing both COTS and bespoke application environments.Hands-on experience using Azure DevOps or similar testing tools for test planning, execution, and defect tracking.Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining testing artefacts including test strategies, plans, and scripts.Experience testing REST APIs, SOAP services, and web-based understanding of testing methodologies and ability to apply best practices across complex ICT environments.
Desirable CriteriaExperience testing cloud-hosted platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and modern application environments.Experience working with low-code or no-code platforms such as Salesforce, SmartIQ, or Microsoft Power Apps.Experience performing MOE, infrastructure, or hardware testing.Familiarity with enterprise government ICT environments and testing processes.Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across both business and technical teams.
