We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs - Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Mullaloo Heights Primary School (PS) is an Independent Public School catering for approximately 250 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The Role
The Special Needs - Education Assistant supports the teaching and learning of students by assisting the teacher, delivering planned education programs, and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
You would work under general supervision and guidance in completing tasks with limited discretion and judgement, to achieve outcomes determined and clearly defined by the teacher.
Duties may include assisting with educational programs (including specialised programs such as occupational, speech, or physiotherapy), implementing individual or small group demonstrations. Also, the suitable applicant will ideally assist in understanding communication challenges between students and teachers and providing feedback to caregivers or parents under teacher direction. Suitable applicants will ideally collect resources or documents, managing classroom supplies and ensuring any foodstuffs or food preparation equipment is kept safe and hygienic.

* A CV of up to three (3) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position
* A three (3) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF
o Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
o Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
o Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
o Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
o Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
o Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
