The Department of Children and Families (DCF) is a multi‑functional human services and community‑focused agency that works to provide responsive, safe and quality services and programmes that empower communities and improve social outcomes for all Territorians.
Responsibilities
* Manage resources, develop, maintain and strengthen collaborative and strategic alliances, and implement corporate requirements.
* Lead a dedicated team of professionals across the Top End and Arnhem regions to deliver high‑quality assessments, promote carer recruitment and coordinate and monitor the registration of quality foster and kinship carers in compliance with legislation and departmental policies.
* Deliver integrated statutory and non‑statutory welfare services to vulnerable children and families.
* Provide professional expertise and demonstrated best practice under the Care and Protection of Children Act, ensuring a high level of service to carers.
* Contribute to the overall management of the office as a member of the Department's management team and promote an integrated best‑practice approach to service delivery.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification that gives eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, Community Worker Australia or the Australian Psychological Society (or equivalent).
* Strong understanding of the principles and functions of delivering statutory and non‑statutory welfare services, conducting strength‑based assessments, developing and delivering effective interventions, and demonstrated capacity to interpret and apply complex legislation.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family and community structures, with the ability to communicate and work in a culturally safe manner.
