The Bureau's observing network assets portfolio is distributed across 12,500 sites covering all states and territories of Australia and other jurisdictions. Observing network assets include, but are not limited to, Radars, Automatic Weather Stations, Tsunami Boys, Rain Gauges and other measuring apparatus.

The Asset Management Planner will work with the Asset Management Services Lead to deliver a comprehensive and repeatable strategic planning process that facilitates the collation of ideas and facts into long range and operational plans enabling the broader OSO leadership team to achieve our asset management objectives. Pivotal to this process is a highly tuned collaborative approach, strong analytical capability, an appreciation of engineering concepts and the ability to plan and prioritise programs of work.

Key measures of success will be the practical representation of the annual strategic planning process, including the outcomes reflected in the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) and individual network Asset Management Plans (AMPs), within the Bureau's Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS). Over time as the Bureau's asset management capability and culture matures, incremental continuous improvement and optimisation of both service performance and efficiencies will be expected to be delivered through this process.

The position will contribute to an organisation wide understanding and appreciation of asset management as a discipline and its benefits. This will include the streamlining of business processes, involving relevant stakeholders, product ownership of continuous improvement projects, representation on organisation wide transformation and communication forums and provision of expert advice.

Whilst the initial focus of this position will be the Bureau's observing network assets portfolio, the role may be expanded in future to include a diverse and significant asset base, including property and facilities, information technology and software and intangible assets such as data, intellectual property and forecasting models.

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

1. Work under limited direction against established priorities, practices, and methodologies to manage the representation of the program of service and minor capital projects in EAMS.
2. Under limited direction, manage the relationship with a range of internal stakeholders to identify and anticipate OSO work requirements and translate into work orders:
1. Work with network managers to re-develop and maintain Program of Service in EAMS
2. Work with project managers to develop Capital Improvement Projects in EAMS

- Develop an understanding of Hub workload and pressures and use that understanding to recommend potential delivery mechanisms for planned asset activities
- Provide accurate and specialised advice including anticipating problems and contributing to issues management in the asset management planning process.
- Contribute to the identification and implementation of systems improvement initiatives
- Coordinate asset performance reporting, undertake initial analysis of results and propose recommendations
- Support the development of strategic and corporate asset management documents, including the Strategic Asset Management Plan, Asset Investment Profiles and Asset Management Plans.
- Support the OSO Asset Planning relationship with Property Services.
- Complying with all Bureau work, health and safety policies and procedures, and taking reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of employees, contractors and visitors who may be affected by your conduct.

Successful candidate may be required to obtain, and maintain, a Baseline security clearance from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency
