The Opportunity
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced HR and Safety Officer to join our Human Resources and Safety Team. The position will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely generalist human resources, safety and wellbeing services and support across the organisation, in accordance with relevant legislation, the Shire's industrial agreement and the Shire's existing policies, directives and work instructions. The incumbent/s of this role are required to deliver high quality customer service, build strong working relationships across the organisation and positively promote the organisation at all times
Your responsibilities include a need to:
Human Resources
* Provide support and accurate consistent HR information to relevant management and employees on employment functions including recruitment, engagement, employee benefits, retention, employment relations and professional development; ensuring compliance with organisational directives and adopted processes;
* Interpret and assist to draft HR policies, programs and practices to ensure alignment with relevant legislation to mitigate risk and support best practice compliance;
* Manage the HR and Recruitment queries via inboxes and provide timely feedback on existing and proposed HR processes, procedures and initiatives where needed;
* Manage and resolve employee relations matters fairly and efficiently, referring them to Senior HR Business Partners as appropriate;
* Keep all position descriptions up to date, relevant and in line with organisation requirements, seeking input and approval from managers and directors; and
* Support the completion of performance development review processes in allocated business area/s, identifying skills gaps and recommending workforce solutions that meet the Shires strategic and operational needs.
Safety and Wellbeing
* Provide general safety and wellbeing related advice and support to relevant stakeholders under the guidance of the Senior Safety Advisor; and
* Assist the Senior Safety Advisor with scheduling, running and promoting relevant events, training and initiatives.
General
* Coordinate and participate in corporate induction process for all employees and contractors, and provide, where required, other in-house related training and workshops to assist organisational understanding of the Human Resource and Safety department's requirements where appropriate;
* Maintain relevant records, information and databases and provide accurate standard and non-standard reports and analytics to others within the immediate Department team where requested; and
* Leverage technology to streamline efficiency and enhance employee experience and work practices.
A qualification in Human Resources, Employment Law, Safety or other relevant discipline (minimum Diploma level), and a current unrestricted WA Driver's Licence are essential for this role.
Part-time and flexible working options will be considered for the right candidate, provided the role responsibilities can be fully met.
