**About the role & key responsibilities**
Our Lead Technicians report to the Site Leaders and our farm is located in the Shire of Loddon (45 minutes from Bendigo). This is a permanent full-time role.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
**Leadership**
- Supervise a small team of Animal Care Technicians
- Promote safety within the team
- Lead team talks
- Complete orientation and training of new Animal Care Technicians
**Livestock Care**
- Tending to routine animal husbandry
- Cleaning and maintaining accommodation pens, fittings and equipment,
- Handling and using chemicals
- Operating machinery and equipment.
- Caring for the animals including providing feed and water stock,
- Caring for sick or injured stock and maintain herd health status at an acceptable level.
**Livestock Analysis, Research & Advice**
- Maintain standards of quality
- Inspecting effectiveness of feed formulae
- Assisting in controlled breeding to develop improved livestock strains
- Arranging the supply of drugs, vaccines and other chemicals
- Advise on aspects of production processes and farming techniques
To be successful within this role you will require a minimum of two years' experience within a similar role in Piggery operations as well as experience with supervising a small team.
**You will also have**:
- Demonstrated experience in pig production
- High level of understanding with Herd health factors
- Competent knowledge of APIQ & Welfare Standards
- Strong communication skills
