The Role – Chief Operations Officer
Reporting directly to the Founder, the Chief Operations Officer will take responsibility for leading and developing a high-performing team of Project Managers, ensuring the disciplined delivery of complex projects to the highest standards of quality, safety and commercial performance. You will drive operational excellence — delivering projects on time and within budget, exceeding client expectations, managing variations effectively, minimising defects and maintaining industry-leading margins through rigorous project management practices. Working in close partnership with the Founder, you will play a pivotal role in scaling the business, embedding systems and structure that support growth while preserving the culture and standards that define the firm. This is a rare opportunity to join an exciting growth journey, freeing the Founder to focus on strategy and client relationships while you take ownership of operational leadership.
The Person
To be successful in this role, you will first and foremost be a good human — values-led, inclusive and committed to doing the right thing by your team, clients, suppliers and subcontractors. You will hold yourself to a higher professional standard and bring deep experience in commercial fit-out and commercial design & construction (residential or civil backgrounds will not be considered). Degree qualified in construction or a related discipline, you will have extensive experience leading multiple Project Managers across concurrent projects, with strong technical knowledge of construction codes and standards, design and estimating, risk management and best-practice OHS. You may currently be a Senior Project Manager or Project Director ready to step into a COO role. Commercially astute yet down-to-earth, warm and credible, you will be someone who can win trust, sell concepts to clients and consistently exceed expectations in delivery.
