The Role
Join our dedicated team at Coast Shelter as a Support Worker in our Youth team, providing crucial support to young people aged 16 to 24 years old.
We operate six Youth Refuge's across the Central Coast in a 24/7 environment, which means we offer a range of diverse shifts, including weekends, nights, sleepovers and public holidays.
A key part of the role is creating a home like environment and tailoring your support to each young persons needs. You will support young people to attain their educational goals, undertake extracurricular activities and support their connection to community and family.

You know that youth work is exactly the work you want to do. You have a passion for working with young people, who may be going through a difficult time in their life and can be a supportive, confident and positive role model.
You will have the skills to assist the young person in building confidence and resilience, so they can make positive choices for their future. You will be emotionally intelligent, creative and flexible and be able to build strong relationships with the young people.
We are looking for someone with:
•Relevant Tertiary Qualification (certificate level or higher), and/or minimum 2 years’ working with young people
•Strong understanding of issues facing young people, including trauma, substance use, and family violence
•Proven ability to maintain boundaries and respond to challenging behaviours
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
