About The Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking a focused and motivated Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team full-time. In this hands-on role, you will assist in the design, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment by applying established engineering practices.
Working closely with engineers and project teams, you’ll help implement and support electrical systems in production environments. Key tasks include interpreting technical drawings, testing components, monitoring equipment performance, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This role is vital to maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our manufacturing operations while meeting customer expectations and organisational performance goals.
Tasks Include:
1. Prepare plans and diagrams of electrical installations and circuitry.
2. Assist Electrical Engineers and Engineering Technologists in the design and layout of electrical systems, including substations, switchgear, cabling, and motor control systems.
3. Collect data, perform tests and complex calculations, and present results through charts, graphs, and tabulations.
4. Estimate material costs and quantities required for projects.
5. Inspect electrical designs and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory standards.
6. Assemble, install, test, calibrate, modify, and repair electrical equipment and systems in accordance with regulations and safety requirements.
7. Perform electrical workshop tasks, including the installation of protection relays, metering, and indicating devices.
8. Assist in research and experimental programs as part of ongoing development and improvement initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications expected from the Electrical Engineering Technician
1. A relevant associate degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma in Engineering is required. In lieu of formal qualifications, a minimum of three years of relevant experience may be accepted as a substitute.
2. Recent minimum of one year of relevant experience in the field of engineering
3. Creation of Engineering documentation.
4. Ability to work independently and without supervision.
5. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide leadership to a small team.
6. Demonstrate problem-solving skills and experience with diagnostics.
7. Good oral communication skills.
