The role

Equity Economics is looking for a Director to lead new and existing business in our domestic economic and social policy, programs and evaluation practice.

The Director will be responsible for a portfolio of domestic economic and social policy areas, representing the firm, achieving business growth and diversification, and delivering the highest quality analysis and policy advice to clients.

The role requires significant experience delivering analysis, strategy and policy across a range of economic and social policy areas – including social and health policy and services, payments, early learning and education, housing and First Nations policy – while also recongnising that deep expertise in one or two of these areas is highly valued.

The Director will be expected to bring new clients and revenue opportunities to the firm to deliver against commercial growth targets and lead a growing team, while maintaining the firm's commitment to working in partnership with clients to deliver improved economic and social outcomes for the most vulnerable.

The Director will work closely with other Directors across our domestic and international portfolio of work and manage a small and growing team.

Selection criteria and requirements:

· years in leading the delivery of professional consultancy services and policy development, social and economic analysis, including budget management and team leadership.

· Advanced degree in economics, public policy, social sciences, or related fields, or equivalent experience.

· Advanced business development capability, with a demonstrated record of supporting growth and strong professional networks in relevant organisations with government, NFP and for-purpose sectors.

· Deep knowledge of economic and social policy issues, social protection programs, community development, and experience linking research to practical policy and financing solutions.

· Experience working with Aboriginal community-controlled organisations and/or First nations policy highly desirable.

· Experience in international development and/or knowledge of the Asia Pacific region would be desirable but is not essential.

· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience in media engagement.

The Director will play a critical role in shaping the next phase of transition and growth of Equity Economics. Critical to the role is an ability to work in a dynamic, flexible environment, and in collaboration with the team, partners and clients.
