About the role
The Associate Director Information Technology is responsible for leading the strategic planning and day-to-day delivery of technology services across the organisation. The role ensures that digital systems and infrastructure are secure, reliable and fit for purpose, while providing timely support and issue resolution for staff. Working closely with the internal Corporate Operations function and the central department IT team, the role helps ensure that technology services are aligned with broader government standards and support the organisation's operational needs.
The Associate Director Information Technology leads a multidisciplinary team and oversees IT strategy, project planning, budgets and governance for complex technology initiatives. The role monitors the performance and security of IT systems, manages responses to cyber security and system incidents, and identifies opportunities to strengthen information security and compliance. It also maintains strong relationships with vendors, shared services and other government stakeholders, contributes to ICT and risk management forums, and supports continuous improvement across enterprise architecture, IT governance and corporate operations. This role is also responsible for overseeing the Corporate Operations Team, supporting facilities management, system administration, project management and operations support.

About You
You bring strong technical knowledge across core IT environments, including networking, end user computing, server infrastructure and identity and access management. With relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Communications Technology, or equivalent experience delivering IT projects and programs, you are confident leading complex technology initiatives and providing clear, practical advice on ICT and cyber security matters. You stay informed about developments in the sector and use this knowledge to anticipate emerging risks and opportunities, helping shape priorities and strengthen the organisation's technology environment.
You are an effective and pragmatic leader who can guide multidisciplinary teams through complex programs, balancing competing priorities, tight deadlines and limited resources. You are comfortable overseeing IT operations and responding to incidents, while ensuring systems, infrastructure and information remain secure and compliant with relevant obligations. With strong communication and stakeholder management skills, you work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers and government partners to improve technology governance, support informed decision making and deliver reliable technology services.
