About the RolePart Time: 0.6 FTELocation: Armidale Secondary College
School psychologists are an essential part of the Department's school counselling service and work in primary and high schools. They provide counselling and psychological assessment of students, to complement and enhance the work of teachers to strengthen student learning and wellbeing outcomes, and help families understand and manage their children's learning and mental health needs.
This is a truly collegiate role offering unique challenges and opportunities – both in professional development and your ability to make an impact on the lives of children and young people.
The successful candidate will be based at Armidale Secondary College and have opportunities to work across the lifespan with both primary and high school aged students, engaging with a diverse student body and school communities.
School psychologists receive supervision with the Senior Psychologist Education and participate in group/peer supervision as part of the school counselling team. You will collaborate with multiple school communities, colleagues, and outside agencies, with opportunities to use and expand your skills within a supportive, multidisciplinary team.
CPD opportunities are provided, and the NSW Department of Education supports registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. ASC is situated in Armidale, NSW, with a student enrolment of 1140. The school has Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander enrolment of 18% and 11% EAL/D. The Strategic Improvement Plan identifies targets in system-negotiated targets, student voice, and high-challenge, high-support teaching and learning strategies. The community is active in support of the school through P&C and local AECG.

Key Accountabilities
* Provides counselling and psychological services to students, individually and in groups, including short-term therapeutic interventions within the constraints of training, experience and supervision
* Engages with and implements the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service
* Works with the principal, school executive, staff and student support services to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement departmental priorities
* Contributes to the social, emotional, and academic development of students, and supports schools and students with complex behavioural needs
* Administers cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments, reports results, and collaborates to improve learning, wellbeing and mental health outcomes
* Works with learning and support teams, parents and carers, and other agencies to develop school-based support for students
* Responds as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents
* Refers students and families to other agencies to support health and wellbeing outcomes
Essential Requirements
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
* General or Provisional Psychology Registration with active internship with the Psychology Board of Australia
* Valid Working with Children Check clearance
* Current driver's licence and ability and willingness to travel between work sites
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency
Special Notes
The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000 (conditions apply). Where the successful candidate seeks ongoing part-time employment, this payment will be pro-rata.

This is a permanent part-time position 0.6FTE. Applicants seeking permanent full-time or part-time employment are encouraged to apply. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part-time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
Total Remuneration Package
Package valued up to $182,461 + incentives (where applicable). Base salary ranges from $101,122 - $160,983* plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation. Base salary rates above the minimum are available dependent on professional experience. *Note there is no automatic progression to the $160,983 SPAC salary level. Access to SPAC is available once a school psychologist has progressed through all salary steps and upon successful application for Advanced Certification level against the NSW School Counselling Service Professional Practice Framework.
