The Cloud Infrastructure, Architecture and Strategy team within the Department of Veterans' Affairs & the Repatriation Commission and the Military Rehabilitation and Co is seeking a proactive Technical Delivery Manager to act as the operational engine room for the department's digital transformation agenda.
This is not a standard administrative project management role. We require a delivery lead with a strong technical background who can understand the architectural complexities of our work and represent the technical scope accurately to stakeholders. You will be responsible for orchestrating the delivery of technical designs, governance frameworks, and strategic roadmaps, ensuring that our high-level vision is translated into delivered value.
The key position responsibilities are:
* Manage the integrated delivery plan across the sections key programs, ensuring alignment between the Technical Roadmap, cloud design work, and governance uplifts.
* Translate complex architectural objectives into actionable work packages and schedules for the team's architects and strategists.
* Establish and maintain the single source of truth for the section's workload, managing resource allocation between BAU (ECR assessments) and strategic projects.
* Translate technical risks and architectural issues into plain business language for stakeholders and senior executives.
* Proactively identify and manage technical dependencies between DVA's internal teams and our strategic deliverables.
* Author high-quality status reports, executive briefs, and board papers that accurately reflect technical progress.
Essential criteria
1. Technical Fluency: a strong background in ICT with the ability to understand cloud architectures (e.g. Azure), data platforms, and software development lifecycles.
2. Delivery Management: proven experience using project management methodologies (Agile, Prince2, or Hybrid) to delivery complex technical programs in government or enterprise setting.
3. Strategic Synthesis: the ability to synthesise updates from diverse technical streams (security, data, cloud) into cohesive, executive-level reporting.
4. Problem Solver: a track record of unblocking technical teams by navigating organisational lines and managing cross-team dependencies.
5. Governance Knowledge: understanding of the Whole-Of-Government digital environment, including the DTA Investment Oversight Framework and ICT budgeting process, is highly desirable.
