The Opportunity
As a Senior Manufacturing Technician – Silicone and Myoelectrics, you will be working in a state-of-the-art workshop within an established team of technicians. You'll play your part in the manufacturing, repairing and maintaining of artificial limbs, carbon fibre and silicone orthotic devices and myoelectric prostheses, according to prescription specifications.
Tools, technologies and machinery used on a daily basis include hand tools, power tools, autoclaves and industrial ovens, CNC routers, 3D printers, pre-preg carbon fibre, wet carbon fibre lamination, thermoplastic, ultrasonic welding machines, specialised silicone rollers and more. Manufacturing materials used include carbon fibre, silicone, plastic, plaster, various metals, epoxy resins and foams.
As the lead silicone technician, you'll be the head of the silicone manufacturing department, utilising your extensive knowledge and experience in silicone prosthetics and orthotics manufacturing to create high-quality custom devices for a broad range of client needs. You'll make everything from socket liners and hand/wrist braces to silicone AFOs and various physical supports.
As the lead myoelectrics technician, you'll design, order, manufacture and fit myoelectric prosthetic devices to clients as well as train them in their use. Sourcing components from the world's leaders in myoelectric technology, your knowledge and experience in myoelectrics will enable the best possible outcomes for our clients, delivering functionality and sophistication unlike anything else available in Australia.
You will be required to communicate with clinical and technical staff on matters of design, logistics and best practice to ensure jobs are manufactured to the highest standard of quality and in a timely and professional manner.
You'll work safely and respectfully, following OHS regulations and house rules, ensuring the safety of yourself and those around you at all times while also upholding the proud standard of trust and professionalism we have established at Orthofabrication Australia.
You may be required to assist in undertaking appropriate research and tests from time to time to develop and optimise Othofabrication Australia's manufacturing techniques.
This is a permanent, full-time role (34hrs/week) with flexible working hours available and the option to work a 34-hour week over four days. The successful applicant will be subject to a six-month probation period.
- At least a Diploma level or higher qualification in a relevant field, such as Orthotics, Prosthetics or Occupational therapy is essential.
- Minimum five years' experience as a manufacturing technician in the same or a similar role.
- Previous documented experience of silicone and myoelectrics manufacturing a must.
- Current national criminal history check, or willing to obtain.
The salary for this position is $82,000 p.a. with attractive bonuses available if professional goals and KPIs are achieved.
