About the Job
Community Safety Officers work in correctional facilities to support public safety and rehabilitation of offenders. They supervise inmates, conduct searches and monitor behavior to ensure a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out daily tasks and duties following legislation and policies to ensure the safety and well-being of inmates.
* Perform accountability routines including muster, head checks and ongoing observation of offenders.
* Conduct searches and other detection activities to remove contraband from the facility and boost security.
* Manage inmate requests for services or escalate them if needed.
* Supervise offender activities in designated zones, ensuring fairness, equity and efficient safe practice.
Requirements:
* Minimum age: 18 years old.
* Current MR - Medium Rigid drivers licence (or willingness to obtain within 3 months).
* Australia or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident.
* Willingness to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice.
* Meet medical standards for a correctional officer and have a reasonable level of fitness.
* No visible body art or modifications on the face, scalp, ears, neck or hands.
