The Opportunity
Our Client is seeking a high‐calibre Director – Delivery to lead the capital works program for the Flood Restoration Portfolio (FRP). This is a critical leadership role responsible for the end‐to‐end delivery of essential assets impacted by the 2022 floods. You will be the driving force behind restoring Lismore's infrastructure, ensuring every project is executed safely, on time, and within budget to meet the expectations of our resilient community.
The Role
Reporting to the executive team, you will translate portfolio strategy into tangible delivery outcomes. You will oversee a high‐volume, time‐bound program, navigating complex market constraints and strict funding requirements. All applicants must have relevant Australian or NZ experience and have the right to work in Australia.
This is initially a 12‐month fixed‐term contract seconded to one of our clients organizations based in Lismore Northern New South Wales, Australia, but may lead to a long‐term role with a growing specialist engineering and project management consultancy based in Southeast Queensland managing projects throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight: Lead the end‐to‐end delivery of the FRP works program across multiple project streams.
Performance Leadership: Drive a high‐performance culture across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring accountability and technical excellence.
Financial & Commercial Rigor: Oversee procurement, contract execution, and claims resolution while maintaining public sector accountability.
Stakeholder Management: Act as a key liaison between Government agencies, funding bodies, contractors, and the Lismore community.
Risk & Governance: Navigate NSW Local Government frameworks to ensure compliance with funding agreements and statutory obligations.
What You Bring
Proven Track Record: At least 10 years of senior leadership experience managing large‐scale civil infrastructure or capital works portfolios ($100M+ scale preferred).
Technical Expertise: A deep understanding of civil construction methodologies, project controls (scheduling, cost tracking), and constructability.
Adaptive Leadership: The ability to mentor a temporary program workforce and maintain momentum under high‐pressure, fixed‐deadline conditions.
Commercial Acumen: Advanced skills in contract management and navigating supply chain/market volatility.
Essential Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
Current NSW Class C Driver Licence.
Successful completion of a National Criminal History Check.
