This is a hands-on, guest-facing role ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, feels confident in a sales-focused environment and is eager to grow their wine knowledge within a premium venue.
About the Role
Working under the Wine Room Manager, this role is primarily based in the Lion Wine Room, with strong involvement in wine service within the restaurant. You'll support daily operations, assist with wine experiences and events, and help ensure every guest enjoys a memorable, world-class beverage experience.
The role is casual, with genuine opportunities for development and progression.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Experience
* Warmly welcome guests and deliver engaging, informative wine tastings
* Create memorable experiences through confident, personable service
Wine Experiences & Events
* Support interactive experiences including weekly wine masterclasses and regular wine dinners
* Assist with the smooth, professional delivery of events and tastings
Product Knowledge
* Build strong knowledge of wines, regions, vineyard history, and winemaking philosophy
* Confidently share wine stories and recommendations with guests
Stock & Service Support
* Assist with wine ordering, stock rotation, restocking, and merchandising
* Polish glassware and support general wine room and service tasks
Team Support
* Assist with front-of-house operations as required
* Support staff training and mentoring alongside the management team
What We're Looking For
* Previous cellar door, wine retail, winery, or premium hospitality experience highly regarded
* Current RSA certification
* Genuine passion for wine and a strong desire to learn and grow
* Confident communicator with a warm, engaging style
* Comfortable working in a sales-focused, guest-facing role
* Strong attention to detail and pride in personal and venue presentation
* Team player with a positive, proactive attitude
* Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and public holidays
* Wine qualifications (e.g. WSET) are advantageous but not essential.
