* $42.11 per hour, inclusive of a 25% casual loading, plus superannuation
The City of Boroondara is inviting expressions of interest from people who may be suitable for future School Crossing Supervisor opportunities. While this is not an active recruitment process, it enables Council to identify suitable candidates for future opportunities as they arise across the municipality.
Casual School Crossing Supervisors may be required to provide relief coverage for permanent part‐time employees during periods of leave or unplanned absences.

About the role
School Crossing Supervisors support the safety of children and pedestrians at designated crossings during peak school times. The role involves working at various locations across Boroondara and following VicRoads and Council procedures. Hours are part‐time and generally align with school start and finish times.
Key responsibilities
Responsibilities include safely managing pedestrian crossings, ensuring traffic is stopped before pedestrians cross, and reinforcing key road safety messages with children. The role also involves engaging respectfully with community members, maintaining uniform and equipment, complying with Council policies, reporting incidents or hazards, and participating in required training.
You will be supported in a role that is vital to the safety and wellbeing of local children and the wider community. Council provides thorough training, appropriate uniforms and equipment, and ongoing support to help you perform your duties confidently and safely on site. You will be part of a committed team making a meaningful contribution at school crossings across our city.
* Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
* Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
* Sufficient English communication skills to engage effectively with children, parents and the community.
* Successful completion of a short course upon commencement in the role – "Instruction of School Crossing Supervisors".
* Physical ability to operate a school crossing by standing, walking and lifting a stop bat for periods of up to 45 minutes per shift.
* Flexibility to take up duty at various school crossings throughout the municipality as required.
* While not essential, a current Victorian driver's licence is an advantage.
