Position / Role Objectives
The Landcare Broken Hill Coordinator supports and helps coordinate local community volunteer Landcare projects and initiatives. The role works under the supervision of Landcare Broken Hill volunteers and alongside staff from Western Landcare NSW Inc.
The Coordinator focuses on encouraging participation from individuals and community groups to strengthen the organisations capacity and achieve the goals of the NSW Landcare Program. This includes maintaining the member database, engaging with members, and promoting involvement.
The role also involves working closely with other Landcare staff - such as regional coordinators and administrative officers - as well as community groups, councils, businesses, and other partners involved with Landcare Broken Hill.
Key Deliverables of the Landcare Broken Hill Coordinator
Local Landcare Support and Community Engagement
* Act as the main contact for Landcare Broken Hill, providing information to members and the public.
* Encourage community involvement and participation in Landcare activities.
* Support members and others to take part in projects focused on natural resource management and environmental issues.
* Assist with planning and coordinating projects, including volunteer rosters (e.g. watering at Imperial Lakes Nature Park), events, and working bees.
Organisational Support and Capacity Building
* Provide administrative support to Landcare Broken Hill Inc. as needed.
* Communicate regularly with members and volunteers through newsletters, social media, and other channels (with Board approval).
* Manage the website and maintain a database of Landcare information for use in projects.
* Share updates on projects and activities with other Landcare groups in the region, including contributions to the Western Landcare NSW newsletter.
* Represent local needs by participating in regional and state Landcare networks.
* Assist with grant applications and fundraising efforts.
* Support onboarding of new members and maintain ongoing communication.
Reporting and Coordination
* Monitor, evaluate, and report on activities and outcomes to Landcare Broken Hill and Western Landcare NSW.
* Help connect Landcare projects with Local Land Services and Landcare NSW by preparing case studies (two per year).
* Work with Western Landcare NSW to develop and implement a Regional Priority Action Plan.
Reporting / Supervision arrangements
Position reports to the Landcare Broken Hill Inc. Chair, supervised by volunteers and is supported by WLNSW via monthly Coordinator meetings.

* Strong interest in, and commitment to local environmental and agricultural land management issues.
* Proactive and community minded attitude.
* Social Media Skills - ability to create and implement communication across social media on various platforms.
* Good knowledge of Web Page management and back-end skills.
* A current drivers license, first aid certificate and NSW Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain.
Highly desirable skills and experience
* Experience in project planning, management, record keeping and report writing and grant writing.
* Excellent networking and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Sound coordination, administration, and computer skills.
* Flexibility with working hours over the period of employment.
* Good knowledge/understanding of Association Governance and Law.
