One Data Analyst role with a Government Department for an initial 12 month with a 12 month extension option

You will be working with a Government Department as a Data Analyst in The Workforce Data Analytics Division.
**Your new role**
The Department are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Analyst to join the team and contribute to the analysis, reporting, and policy analysis of the Australian Organisations system. In this role, you will be responsible for analysing data, identifying patterns and trends, and providing valuable insights to inform decision-making processes. Your expertise in data analysis, forecasting, and statistical techniques will play a crucial role in driving evidence-based policy interventions and evaluating their performance. You will be responsible for:
- Analysing data, produce reports, and contribute to policy analysis.
- Identify patterns and trends in data sets, prepare data for analysis and reporting.
- Undertake complex data analysis, interpretation, and investigation of large data sets.
- Develop and maintain data preparation and data continentalisation processes automated using SAS.
- Participate in change management, data validation, and verification of ETL processes.
- Work closely with project managers and technical leads to meet deliverables and assist in developing the scenario planning tool to industry and agency standards.
- Support the IT development team with any data dependencies of the geospatial workforce planning tool through the analysis of large and complex health datasets.
- Review and update the database models.
- Collaborate with data custodians to identify data that addresses health workforce needs, trends, and insights.
- Present data and complex numerical information in a clear and concise manner and clearly communicate statistical concepts to senior and non-technical audiences.
**What you'll need to succeed**
To be considered, you will need the below skills to deliver in:
- SQL
- SAS Programming
- R Programming (Desirable)
- Working knowledge on basic statistics
- Working knowledge of data models, database design/structures
- Computer science degree or degree in a highly quantitative field beneficial but not essential for those with experience.
You must be an Australian citizen and will possess or be willing to go through the process to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance.
