Salary Range: CTTA (37.86 per hour + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications and experience

Location: Townsville

About the Role:

The Technician Assistant will assist with the overall staging of productions at Townsville City Council's Performing Arts venue, the Townsville Civic Theatre. This role supports the technical unit by undertaking theatre and event set ups, operating basic theatrical equipment and assisting in the upkeep of Council's performance venues and systems.

About You:

Our ideal applicant would be reliable and safety-conscious technician with hands-on experience supporting live performances and events in a theatre or performing arts environment. You have a solid working knowledge of general theatre disciplines and technical systems, and you enjoy contributing to the smooth staging of productions by assisting with set-ups, strikes, and the operation of basic theatre equipment, including follow-spots. You take pride in maintaining equipment, following reasonable directions, and supporting business continuity during unplanned disruptions.

A team player with good communication skills, you work effectively with colleagues, hirers, and patrons, providing a high level of customer service and responding professionally to enquiries. You are computer literate, with practical skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and you possess the literacy and numeracy skills needed to work efficiently in a busy theatre environment. With a current Queensland 'C' class driver's licence and a proactive, dependable approach, you are well suited to supporting the operational needs of Council's Civic Theatre.
