Akeyulerre Healing Centre is looking for a skilled and passionate cook to lead our kitchen and catering services. Based in Mparntwe (Alice Springs), this is a unique opportunity to combine food, culture, and community in a role that supports Elders, families, and social enterprise.
About Us
Akeyulerre Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit organisation founded by Arrernte Elders. Our work supports cultural healing, traditional knowledge, bush trips, and local enterprise, including our café and catering services.
The Role
Cook healthy, delicious meals for programs, bush trips, and the Akeyulerre café
Support community events and cultural gatherings with tailored catering
Lead and coordinate the kitchen team, creating a welcoming and respectful workspace
Plan menus, manage stock, and keep the kitchen clean and safe
Work alongside Elders and staff to reflect Arrernte values in everything we do
This role is hands-on and dynamic — no two days are the same.
What We're Looking For
You'll need:
Experience cooking in a café, commercial, or community kitchen
Short order cooking and catering menu experience
Great time management and communication skills
A strong respect for Aboriginal culture and community
Confidence to lead a small team and maintain kitchen standards
Current Ochre Card + willingness to get a National Police Check
Bonus points for: Food Safety qualifications, bush food knowledge, a Driver's Licence, or experience in Aboriginal organisations.
