We are seeking an experienced and strategic Grant Writer in a Volunteer capacity to identify funding opportunities and prepare compelling submissions that align with our mission and impact objectives. The successful candidate will play a critical role in securing funding from government, corporate, philanthropic, and community sources.
Key Responsibilities
* Research and identify relevant grant opportunities (local, state, federal, philanthropic, and corporate).
* Develop high-quality, persuasive grant applications and expressions of interest (EOIs).
* Collaborate with leadership to gather program data, impact metrics, budgets, and supporting documentation.
* Prepare project budgets and funding breakdowns in alignment with grant guidelines.
* Ensure all submissions meet compliance, eligibility, and reporting requirements.
* Maintain a grants calendar and track submission deadlines.
* Assist with acquittals and impact reports where required.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in successful grant writing and fundraising.
* Strong research, writing, and editing skills.
* Ability to translate community impact into compelling narratives supported by data.
* Experience working with government funding bodies and philanthropic foundations.
* High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
* Strong organisational and project management skills.
Desirable
* Experience in the not-for-profit or community services sector.
* Understanding of programs supporting women, youth, mental health, and multicultural communities.
* Familiarity with Queensland or Australian funding frameworks (if applicable).
