Controls System Engineer

About the Role
An opportunity exists for a Controls Engineer to work on high-speed automation and robotics solutions within a collaborative, engineering-led environment.
The role is hands-on and project-focused, involving control system design, software development and commissioning work at the Echuca facility and on customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Design safe, reliable control systems (hardware and software) for high-speed automated production lines.
* Develop, modify and maintain PLC and robotics programs using Allen-Bradley, Siemens and ABB platforms.
* Design and implement clear, user-friendly HMI and SCADA interfaces for effective operation and fault diagnosis.
* Integrate control systems with factory and business systems including ERP, MES and quality platforms.
* Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues during factory testing and on-site commissioning.
* Continuously improve control system performance to enhance efficiency, safety and product quality.
* Create and maintain concise, accurate documentation including software standards and operating procedures.
* Work closely with mechanical, electrical and project teams to deliver projects from design through to commissioning.
* Provide technical guidance and support to controls team members as required.

* Fit-for-purpose designs delivered from concept to deployment
* Design cost versus actual cost performance
* Quality and completeness of project documentation
* On-time delivery of PLC software and HMI/SCADA applications
Skills & Experience
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
* Clear communication and stakeholder engagement capability
* Ability to work independently and within project teams
* Proven PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens)
* Robotics experience (ABB preferred)
* Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced project environment
