Taronga Zoo Sydney is looking for a motivated and willing to learn Apprentice Carpenter to join our Assets team
This is a fantastic opportunity for a school leaver, or something wanting to enter the Trades industry on an apprenticeship.This role is totally unique; you'll be working in the zoo grounds on the exhibit facilities for animals such as tigers, elephants, pygmy hippos and gorillas
About The Role...Reporting into Leading Hand / Supervisor, the Apprentice Carpenter performs trade apprentice duties under the general supervisor of a Leading Hand / Supervisor.
The Apprentice is required to attend TAFE training per week/ as required, as part of the standard working week.Key Accountabilities...
Undertake and learn all the different aspects of the trade that is required as part of the Apprenticeship under the guidance of a qualified Carpenter.
Undertake to complete appropriate TAFE training and learn all aspects of the trade, including the use of different tools.
Attend scheduled TAFE classes and ensure that all necessary TAFE assessments are completed.
Undertake general duties as required as part of the TAFE curriculum and apply the learnt skills and knowledge in the workplace.
Work effectively as a member of a high performing team, to assist Taronga in its achievement of strategic outcomes.
About You...We are looking for candidates that have: Completion of compulsory secondary education.
