Pay: AU$80,000 – AU$90,000 per year
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Work Location: In person at Haymarket
About the Role
Thai Kee IGA is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Supply Chain Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be pivotal in optimising our supply chain processes, ensuring efficiency, and minimising disruptions. You will analyse our end-to-end supply chain, from inventory management to product delivery, and recommend data-driven improvements.
There is a great deal of autonomy in this role, so applicants need to be organised, performance driven and ready to make an impact.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled analyst to make a significant impact on our operational success.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage stock levels across all supermarket departments (fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood, dry groceries, frozen goods, beverages, and Asian specialty imports) using World Smart and Smart Retail to ensure real-time tracking and optimise stock levels based on business priorities and customer demand.
- Forecast seasonal and product-specific demand using data analytics tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, SQL, MYOB), aligning inventory plans to meet customer demand and optimise in-store availability, reducing stockouts and enhancing the shopping experience.
- Prepare detailed inventory and performance reports, identify stock discrepancies across categories such as frozen seafood, dry noodles, and fresh vegetables, and recommend corrective measures to maintain accurate stock control and minimise waste or overstocking.
- Lead supplier relationships and purchasing activities, liaising with wholesalers from Sydney Markets, seafood distributors, and Asian grocery importers (especially Southeast Asian importers) to ensure timely delivery and consistent product availability.
- Evaluate supplier reliability and delivery performance, address risks such as late deliveries of fresh fruit or inconsistent frozen product quality, and develop contingency sourcing options to reduce supply chain disruptions.
- Implement improvements in ordering processes, warehouse handling, and stock rotation practices, including first-in-first-out (FIFO) for fresh produce and enhanced cold storage management for frozen items, to increase efficiency and reduce spoilage.
- Manage local stock transfers and balance goods between Haymarket and Meadowbank outlets to optimise overall supermarket inventory.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance and operations, to reconcile purchase orders, supplier invoices, and stock records for bulk grocery purchases, seafood imports, and seasonal fruit, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff on inventory control, purchasing procedures, and supplier coordination, including training in handling perishable goods and maintaining accurate stock reporting.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a supply chain, logistics, or data analysis role.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a talent for working with large datasets.
- Experience with inventory management systems and supply chain software. World smart, smart retail system experience preferred.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, MYOB, SQL), and database system (e.g. smart retail, world smart).
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to develop strategies and see projects through to implementation.
- Relevant qualifications in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field are highly regarded.
- Experience working with Chinese and southeast Asian products preferred.
