About the Role We are seeking 4x Truck Drivers and Road Workers to join the regional infrastructure maintenance team based in Fernbank NSW and Port Macquarie NSW. This role is integral to the safe and efficient delivery of road construction, repair, and maintenance works across the network. You’ll be operating a variety of plant and equipment, working within a supportive team committed to maintaining high safety and operational standards. Plant Operator: $45.69/hour super Road Worker: $42.43/hour super Location: Hay, NSW Start Date: Januaury 2026 Duration: 6 months from start date, with possible extension Roster: 9-day fortnight, RDO every second Monday or Friday You will receive Living Away from Home Allowance (LAHA) and Accommodation is supplied by this NSW government department when required to stay away overnight for work. Willingness to work overtime and attend callouts as needed. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks safely and efficiently. Must pass a National Police Background Check. Commitment to following workplace safety standards and procedures. Key Responsibilities Truck Driver Operate Medium Rigid or Heavy Rigid trucks in accordance with road rules and site safety requirements Complete daily pre-start inspections and basic vehicle maintenance checks Transport crew members, tools and materials between depots and work sites Tow trailers, plant or equipment as required Assist with loading and unloading of materials and equipment Support road maintenance activities including traffic control setup and pack-down Maintain accurate records including logbooks, inspection reports and job documentation Follow WHS procedures, fatigue management guidelines and environmental policies Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members to coordinate daily tasks Represent the government agency professionally when working within the community Attend training or obtain additional licences and tickets as directed Roadworker Use hand and power tools and equipment to carry out routine physical tasks individually and in a team environment. Assist with construction of new pavements and maintenance of existing pavements, including spreading and compacting materials. Install and maintain roadside fixtures and signage, and apply road-marking and bituminous sealing materials. Attend Call outs, Road Pavement Repairs, Guard Rail, Signs, TC, Pot Holes, Shoves, Guide Posts, Rubbish Collection. Conduct traffic-control duties as required, managing lane closures and work-zone set-ups in accordance with safety plans. Travel across site locations, sometimes working outside standard hours and staying overnight when required. Adhere strictly to job-site health, safety and environmental procedures, maintain clean work areas and report hazards. Collaborate with Machinery Operators, Trades Workers and Drivers to deliver work efficiently and safely. Load, unload and move equipment and materials as required; perform housekeeping and site-prep activities. About You Truck Driver Current Medium Rigid ( MR ) or Heavy Rigid ( HR ) Vehicle Licence (mandatory) Valid Construction Industry White Card (mandatory) Proven experience in MR or HR vehicle operation within construction or civil works Comfortable performing manual labouring duties in a physically demanding environment Ability to tow trailers and handle a range of transport tasks Flexible to work away from home when required Safety-focused, reliable, and team-oriented Willing to undertake further training or tickets as needed Current National Police Check (or willingness to undergo prior to commencement) Full working rights in Australia – Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid long-term working visa (sponsorship unavailable) Applicants are kindly asked to upload their tickets at www.charterdiligence.com.au/skilledhire Road Worker 2 years of experience in road construction or maintenance (labourer/road-worker roles) within civil/infrastructure works. Possess valid Australian driver’s licence and Construction Industry White Card. Previous traffic-control experience and/or truck licence regarded as an advantage. Ability to carry out physically demanding work outdoors, in varying weather conditions. Enjoy working as part of a team while also being able to work independently when required. Demonstrated safe work behaviour in construction or infrastructure settings. Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required.
