Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant
Location: Newcastle, NSW
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: 200K – 220K + Super
The Opportunity
A national, multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant to help lead and grow its environmental approvals capability across NSW. This is a senior, client-facing role combining technical delivery, team leadership, and business development within a well-established consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver environmental approvals and statutory assessments
* Manage Environmental Impact Assessments and mine closure projects
* Maintain and grow long-standing client relationships
* Identify and secure new work opportunities
* Support and mentor junior consultants
* Collaborate with leaders across engineering and advisory teams
* Contribute to strategic planning and practice growth initiatives
About You
* Well-regarded environmental professional with strong technical depth and commercial awareness
* Extensive experience in environmental approvals, EIA, statutory advice, & management plans
* Strong working knowledge of NSW environmental and mining legislation
* Demonstrated experience delivering projects across NSW
* Established relationships with government and regulatory stakeholders
* Proven ability to manage complex technical assessments and reporting
* Experience in mine closure and environmental approvals
* Consultancy leadership experience with small teams
* Strong client engagement and business development capability
* Experience presenting at industry or stakeholder forums
* On-site project experience (highly regarded)
* Permanent Australian residency
