Temporary appointment up to 1.0 FTE commencing ASAP up to 17 December 2025 with possible further term and/or permanent appointment.

Central Regional TAFE is responsible for delivering customer focused, industry aligned training and pathways to higher education to build a skilled, productive and employment ready workforce. We deliver 185 courses to 10,000 students each year in the Mid West region - Geraldton, Batavia Coast Maritime Institute and Technology Park, the Gascoyne region - Carnarvon and Exmouth, the Goldfields region – Kalgoorlie and the Wheatbelt region - Northam, Merredin and Moora.

About the role

The Principal Lecturer focuses on providing leadership and qualitative improvement in educational processes and programs. A Principal Lecturer is expected to have outstanding skills and qualities in training and education delivery, with a focus on quality teaching and learning and supporting other lecturers to develop their skills.

The Principal Lecturer is a teaching position and is expected to provide college or system wide educational leadership in his/her area of expertise. The Principal Lecturer has industrial leadership responsibilities, which relate directly to the education process, including curriculum, teaching initiatives and industry liaison.

Minimum Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have a Bachelor's Degree in Education or equivalent, Graduate Diploma of Education or equivalent or higher, Training and Assessment credentials as specified in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 (Compilation No.3), Vocational qualification and any relevant license or registration necessary to perform the duties of the position.

The successful applicant will also have at least 5 years of vocational or lecturing experience relevant to this position with an ability to facilitate and encourage learning.

It is preferred that applicants already possess a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or higher recognised teaching qualification) or can demonstrate progression towards the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent).

Eligibility for employment is subject to obtaining a satisfactory Department of Education Criminal Clearance. If this position involves contact with children, the recommended occupant will also be required to obtain a Working with Children (WWC) Card.

To be eligible for appointment applicants must have a working visa (for fixed term contract appointments) or permanent residency (for permanent appointments).

Over the next twelve months, candidates found suitable through this process may be offered appointment to similar & subsequent vacancies within the College, within other TAFE Colleges or across WA Government (subject to candidate permission being granted).
