This is a great opportunity to be part of the world's largest bulk export port authority, encompassing the operating ports of Ashburton, Dampier, Port Hedland and Varanus Island, and five future port sites. You will be responsible for delivery of Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) accredited Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) to ensure the safe, efficient and compliant movement of vessels whilst maintaining a high level of situational awareness within the Port of Port Hedland and VTS coverage area.
The VTSO is responsible to ensure the safe and efficient management of shipping related activities as detailed in the relevant manuals and operating procedures. The VTS Centre operates on a 24/7 basis.
About You
You will bring experience and a track record in a role which requires you to operate in a marine/Port environment, either as an experienced VTSO in another Port or locally in the Port of Port Hedland. Some understanding of expertise in scheduling, marine operations, towage, planning, logistics, or a closely related operational field, with a solid understanding of the demands of a dynamic port environment will be desirable. Your background reflects hands‑on exposure to maritime or comparable high‑pressure operational settings, enabling you to maintain situational awareness and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. You demonstrate well‑developed transferable skills, remain calm and methodical under pressure, and contribute positively to a safe, collaborative and process‑driven team environment.
