Mandatory Qualifications & Role Requirements
Possession of a tertiary degree relevant to the role (e.g., social work, behavioural science, social science, criminology, or other recognised degree). A valid unrestricted "C" Class driver's licence is required. The position is designated as Regulated Employment. Candidates must have a valid Blue Card and may be subject to Criminal History Check.
Caseworkers must be available to attend Children's Courts on Saturdays and public holidays and may be required to travel within the region, including overnight stays. Applicants may be asked to provide a referee who is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage dual roles of monitoring compliance with court orders and intervening to address risk factors for re‐offending.
* Use culturally appropriate, collaborative and evidence‐based assessment, intervention, and restorative justice activities to reduce re‐offending.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for victims, young offenders, families, and the community.
* Prepare and present verbal and written reports to the Children's Court, including pre‐sentence reports, affidavits, and other documentation.
* Conduct pre‐ and post‐court interviews, prepare quality reports, and undertake record‐keeping to ensure accountability.
* Participate in continuing professional development, training, supervision, and relevant accreditation.
* Demonstrate cultural capability and support initiatives for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Employment Details
Location: Mount Isa (travel to other regional offices may be required). The applicant must be willing to travel and stay overnight as necessary.
