AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS's global infrastructure. We support all AWS Data Centers, managing servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continuous access to our cloud services. We tackle complex challenges involving numerous variables impacting the supply chain and are seeking talented individuals eager to contribute.
The Infrastructure Operations (Data Center) team is essential to AWS, supporting our rapidly expanding business and customer base 24/7. We are dedicated to maintaining the physical infrastructure of AWS, upholding standards in safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
The Data Center Engineering Operations Trainee will handle Data Center Engineering Operations, including risk management, preventive and corrective maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management, and metric reporting within an Amazon Data Center.
We are looking for individuals with little to no experience, who are results-driven, possess a technical understanding of electrical or mechanical systems, and have a passion for learning data center operations. The role reports to the DCEO Manager and focuses on maintaining availability, managing costs, assessing and mitigating risks, and reviewing maintenance activities and metrics.
You will collaborate with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other key roles. Your efforts will help us uphold the highest safety and security standards while delivering extensive capacity at minimal cost to our customers. This is a 6-month fixed-term position with the potential for full-time employment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in managing contractors, subcontractors, and vendors on-site, ensuring compliance with practices, procedures, and legislation.
* Maintain performance benchmarks, analyze data, and prepare reports on infrastructure operations and maintenance.
* Create Change Management requests and Incident Management tickets as directed.
* Contribute to documentation related to business and facility operations.
* Support rack installation and power/cooling provisioning within operational constraints.
* Participate in routine maintenance and emergency services for systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, and monitoring systems.
* Assist in the design, implementation, commissioning, and expansion of new facilities.
* Help manage facility assets and inventory management as directed.
* Participate in construction and operational meetings as needed.
* Support Work Order compliance and review contractual SLAs.
* Coordinate with Infrastructure Operations teams for daily operational needs.
* Assist in resolving infrastructure engineering or service issues.
* Deliver exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
* Meet daily operational hours, shift, and on-call response requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline, or equivalent technical training or experience.
* Experience in Data Center Engineering or Operations.
