About the Role
You'll lead the electrical design of innovative energy systems—working across the full project lifecycle, from sales support through to commissioning.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Develop detailed, cost-effective electrical engineering designs that meet project specifications.
Create specifications, calculations, and equipment selection.
Guide junior engineers and CAD draughtsmen while promoting a strong knowledge-sharing culture.
Lead studies such as Load Flow, Fault Analysis, G5/5 Harmonics, Voltage Flicker (P28), and G99 compliance.
Contribute technical expertise during the sales process, including reviewing RFQs and supporting client engagement.
Collaborate with clients, contractors, and partners to ensure high-quality delivery.
Liaise with Mechanical Engineers and Project Managers to align designs across disciplines.
Lead HAZOPs, design reviews, and risk assessments.
Drive standardisation, innovation, and value engineering.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
At least 5 years' experience in electrical design within power generation or renewable energy sectors (1–25MW).
Strong command of LV and MV system design, control, and instrumentation.
Proficient in MS Office and electrical analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, DIgSILENT).
Eligible to work in the UK and hold a valid UK/EU driving licence.
Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration (e.g., IET).
Knowledge of DNO/G99 requirements, NERS accreditation, and HV substation design.
Experience in CHP systems or hybrid power applications.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, PLCs, SCADA, and grid connection processes.
