This senior leadership role reports to the Executive General Manager – Corporate Services and Business Improvements and works closely with leaders across Australia and New Zealand to deliver best-practice safety strategies and risk management initiatives.
This hands-on role combines strategic leadership with active engagement on the ground, including site inspections, risk assessments, and practical safety solutions alongside operational teams.Key RequirementsFormal qualification in Workplace Health and Safety (Cert IV required, Diploma highly desirable).10 years' experience in a WHS leadership or advisory role, preferably within logistics and manufacturing sectors.In-depth knowledge of WorkCover legislation and injury management across multiple states.Proven experience in risk management, hazard control, and building a safety-first culture.Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to influence, engage, and inspire employees at all levels.Proven experience driving organisations to the next level in their safety journey, embedding a strong safety culture across operations.ResponsibilitiesLead by example: Foster a safety-first culture across all operations, inspiring teams to take ownership of workplace safety.Hands-on risk management: Partner with staff to identify hazards, conduct site inspections, and implement practical safety solutions.Ensure compliance: Maintain adherence to WHS/OH&S; legislation, Fire & Evacuation, First Aid, Testing & Tagging, and multi-state WorkCover requirements.Investigate and improve: Collaborate on incident investigations and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Audits & assessments: Coordinate safety audits and risk assessments, driving continuous improvement across branches.Support employee wellbeing: Guide rehabilitation and workers' compensation processes to ensure safe and timely return-to-work.Training & development: Deliver and maintain effective safety training programs that meet regulatory standards.Engage stakeholders: Act as the liaison with service providers, regulators, and partners across Australia and New Zealand.Report with impact: Present clear, actionable safety insights to the Board, highlighting risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement.Role DetailsThis is a hands-on leadership role for a safety qualified passionate about protecting people, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a safety-first culture.
