The Team: This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an acute care multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the principles of recovery oriented and trauma informed care.
Mental Health Emergency Response in the North West consists of a clinician that responds to matters received by Tasmania Police and Ambulance Tasmania, communicated via Ambulance Tasmania.
The clinician co-responds with either or both Tasmania Police and Ambulance Tasmania.
The Role: Works in close partnership with Tasmania Police and Ambulance Tasmania to provide a timely response to people experiencing mental health emergencies in the community.
Provide early and immediate advanced mental health assessment and treatment where joint police, ambulance and clinician response is required for people experiencing mental health crises.
Actively engage with the consumer, their family/carer, and a range of community managed organisations and key stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, person and family centred care.
Facilitates training and education opportunities to relevant police and ambulance staff to enhance overall mental health literacy.
You will need: Proven ability to undertake advanced comprehensive mental health and risk assessments of people experiencing acute symptoms of mental illness.
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant philosophies, such as trauma informed care and recovery principles.
Proven high level interpersonal skills including oral and written communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.

Details of appointment: Multiple permanent, full time and part time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
MHERNW operates a single 10-hour shift which commences at 1pm and finishes at 11pm, 7 days a week.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum.
Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023.
Salary Packaging: You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year.
In addition, the following allowances may be available: Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum.
Benefits available to eligible candidates: Payment of $15,000 staged over three years for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate.

Desirable criteria: Holds or is working towards a relevant post graduate qualification.
Experience in working in partnership with emergency services personnel.
