The Company
The company is a publicly listed organisation operating in the leisure and entertainment sector. It manages a portfolio of consumer-facing assets and experiences across multiple locations, with a base in Queensland and broader operations nationally.
The Role
Reporting to a senior finance leader, this role forms part of a broader finance team within a well-established consumer-facing organisation. In this role you'll be responsible for managing core financial operations, safeguarding the accuracy of financial reporting and delivering insights that support strategic decision-making at the executive level.
Key Responsibilities
* Support general accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and analysis across multiple departments.
* Assist with month-end processes and the preparation of timely and accurate profit and loss reports.
* Conduct proactive analysis of revenue and expenditure, identify variances, and provide insights into cost drivers.
* Manage fixed asset accounting, including assessment of capital expenditure and ongoing reporting on capital projects.
* Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
* Contribute to budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with various internal stakeholders.
* Prepare and circulate regular financial and operational reporting packs for internal use.
* Provide finance system support and assist with issue resolution across ERP, budgeting, POS, and reporting platforms.
* Assist with preparation of statutory reporting, including half-year, year-end, and ASX reporting deliverables.
* Liaise with external auditors and support audit processes with required documentation.
* Ensure accounting compliance with relevant Australian Accounting Standards.
* Support completion of external financial reporting requirements as needed.
The Candidate
* CPA/CA qualified
* Strong technical knowledge across accounting, financial reporting, governance, and IFRS standards, with hands-on audit experience and solid AASB understanding
* Experience preparing general-purpose financial statements
* Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
* Strong business and financial acumen, including budgeting
* Proven track record in improving accounting processes and controls
* Strong organisational skills, able to work under pressure
* Excellent communication and leadership abilities
* Experience with POS systems, NetSuite, Workday and ASX reporting is a plus
