Overview
Clarke Energy is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our commercial and legal team. This role is well suited for a lawyer coming from private practice who is looking to move in‐house, gain broader commercial exposure, and work more closely with the business in a practical, applied way.
Responsibilities
* Support the business across a wide range of commercial, contractual and compliance matters.
* Provide clear, practical legal advice to manage risk and support day‐to‐day operations.
* Negotiate and administer commercial agreements, including engineering, supply and service contracts, across the contract lifecycle.
* Review and negotiate supplier, partner and customer agreements and support tender and proposal processes.
* Assist with compliance and insurance matters, coordinate with external advisors when needed, and improve contract templates, processes and guidance materials.
* Support internal teams with practical guidance on contract administration and legal obligations.
Qualifications
* Admitted to practice in Australia with approximately 4–5 years' post‐qualification experience.
* Experience in commercial law with exposure to drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts.
* Strong understanding of contract principles and risk allocation in commercial agreements.
* Experience supporting contract management or administration across the contract lifecycle.
* Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to non‐legal stakeholders.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* A proactive and collaborative approach with well‐developed communication skills.
* Exposure to engineering, construction, or project‐based environments (highly regarded but not essential).
